July update

Lily Welcomes you to the July Blog. We got the yellow orchid on the left from IKEA, it's doing great. Zoey hasn't bother it at all. The peonies are from the PSU farmer market, they blooms over the week and are really nice.

July has been busy with many things, but not that much fun stuffs. We finally had to get comcast internet since the free Portland wireless shut down. Oh well, it's fast and we got free cable TV just in time for the Olympic next week. Michelle was sick the last 2 weeks and she is just getting better.

We went up to the Rose Garden in early July, the roses smell great!

Like my new favorite cap? Michelle didn't like it at first, she said it looks like Mao's cap. But she's used to it now.

The Salem World Beat festival. We drove down to Salem (1 hour) and went to listen to music and have food from around the world. We had some really good Taco Al Pastor, yummm.... We also had lumpia and fry bread, ooohh... greasy.... no more of that stuff for a while.

The pirate dance.... hmm..... Portland is big on Pirates, there is a pirate store, pirate bar, talk like a pirate day, etc...
Michelle's uncle and aunt, Randy and Daniel, came up to visit and we went wine tasting in Newburg. It was pretty nice, we went somewhat early and got home at a reasonable time. This is Rex Hill winery and it was a big hit with Randy and Daniel.
Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory - free show at the Washington Park. It was fun for a free show and only lasted 90 minutes, perfect lenght for a play.

Avenue Q

I'm responding to Michelle's new bloggo. See link on the right.
So Michelle took me to see Avenue Q last night. It was a lot of fun, but the character Christmas Eve made me choked and rendered me laughless when she is on.

****** Christmas Eve *******
queue ominous music

Here is her part in "sucks to be me" - sing with heavy Chinese accent
CHRISTMAS EVE
Your lives suck?
I hearing you correctly? Ha!
I coming to this country
For opportunities.
Tried to work in
Chinese restaurant
But I'm Japanese.
But with hard work
I earn two Master's Degrees
In social work!
And now I a therapist!
But I have no clients
And I have an
Unemployed fiance'!
And we have lots
Of bills to pay!
It suck to be me!
It suck to be me!
I say it
Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-
Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-
Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-Sucka-
Suck!
It suck to be me!

Then she got another song -
"The More You Ruv Someone."

She is suppose to be Japanese, but her accent and mannerism is exaggerated Chinese stereotype. Anyway, the sound was terrible last night and I could understand maybe 25% of what she was saying. I had a hard time with the Muppets too, but for them 80%.

This character is the most offensive character I've seen, probably ever. Of course the audience laughed it up, man what is this the 50s? Should bring back Charlie Chan, he got lots of laugh.

Anyway, she got out of the way and I was able to enjoy the Muppets antics.

And finally - hold on, you're paying how much to see a muppet show???
Who're the Suckas!!!

June update

We went to the Obama rally, it was a sunny warm beautiful day. He really lucked out because that was like the only nice day in May. There were about 75,000 people there that day and many people were not able to get in to the bowl to see him speak.

We got there pretty early and sat in the back because that was the only shady spot.

I put my 12x zoom camera to good use that day. :)

Fireworks for the beginning of Rose festival. Yea, fireworks season has started.

Pioneer Square flower show. They put up flowers for Rose festival every year. This year's theme is wild flowers. Michelle really hated this, she thinks it's messy. After a few weeks, they sell the plants at a discount price.

Rose Parade - Only a few blocks from our condo. Michelle's camera ran out of battery and I ran home and got my zoom camera. It's great to live downtown. :)
Those Clydesdale are really pretty.

Space program??Pirates Arrr...

We finally got a great seat in front after a group of people left.

Fleet week. We only got 4 ships this year. There are less and less ships now since they are in action.

We walked across the Steel bridge and took a ride back in the old style street car trolley.

The day after Rose Parade, they put the floats on Naito and closed the street to let people take a closer look. Arrrr....**Roar** :)

Hippotamus

That's all for now. The weather is finally getting nice. We finally got 3 sunny days in a row. I took off a couple of days to relax and get ready for power on. It'll be super busy again in 2 weeks. I also got a Nintendo Wii and Michelle is having a lot of fun with it too.
You should see her jumping around playing tennis. :0
