Random Portland pictures

Hi Everyone,
Here are some random pictures from the last few weeks.
A big warehouse fire across the river from our condo.

Swifts nested in the chimney. There were thousands of little swifts, birds, that are nesting in this chimney on the way down south. I couldn't take a good picture since it was getting dark and the birds were small. It was still really cool, there were 2 falcons hanging around hoping to get a snack. There were so many little swifts, they were able to chase the falcons away. Twenty thousand? I don't know, there were so many. The falcon waited until most of the swifts went inside then pounced. Yeah, he got himself a snack. It was really fun to see the swirling cloud of birds.

Oaks bottom wildlife refuge. This is right across the river from our condo. Nice trail close to the city. This tree is hollow, but still living. pretty neat.

This is a wetland and there are heron and ducks hanging out here. The heron is in the middle of the water on a little log.

An Eagle nest on Ross Island.

Cityscape - a time base art. This is actually some kind of modern dance performance. It was free and right next to our condo so we went. I don't get modern dance though. They went from Keller to Petty Grove to Lovejoy and finally to the source fountain. They did a performance at each fountain, but we only went to 2.
Indian drum at the Pioneer square yesterday.

Next post coming really soon. :)

It's September in Portland and the weather has been really nice. It's been about 70-75 degrees and sunny, but we're losing sun light now. Things are going well in general, but I'm not ready for Winter yet...

Free Symphony at the Waterfront Park.
Swan Lake was a nice bonus. We were in the back side of the stage though so we got to see a lot of the backside of this dude. I don't think he's wearing underwear.

Portland Symphony. The last number was 1812 overture with canon and fireworks! yea!

Michelle took me to the Oregon Historical Society museum.
The special show is Michael Curry's puppets. He's the one that did Lion King and Circus du Soleil puppets. Here is Michelle with a Seal.
Arhhhh!!! help!!! I just watched JAWS the other day. heh heh..
dragon
Dios de la muertos puppets. You can pull on the strings to make the arms and legs move. pretty cool.
That's all folks. We got a new Weber BBQ grill and some closet shelves. I'll take some pictures and post them next time.

mangosteen

Freeze Dried Mangosteen from Trader Joe's - $3.50
I like this a lot it taste pretty good. It is really different from the fresh fruit, but I can taste the mangosteen. They also have dried mangosteen, that's good too. Of course fresh mangosteen is the best, but we can't get those in the US. I think they are talking about irradiating the fruits so Thailand can export these to US, but not sure when that will happens.
